Support Centre Spotlight: Nadia P.

Posted Sep 18th, 2023 in spotlights, the wire

We're shining the spotlight on Nadia P., Talent Acquisition Specialist at dentalcorp's Support Centre. We discuss the importance of providing support in her role, her passion for good conversation, and what she believes is the key to success.

Tell us about your background — how long have you been with dentalcorp, and what were you doing before you joined?

I'm a Talent Acquisition Specialist (TAS) supporting Associate recruitment for the province of Quebec. Before joining dentalcorp, I managed the Office Recruitment Division at a placement agency in Montreal.

Can you tell me a bit about your role on the team and what a typical day looks like?

Every day is different, but it always involves supporting our Practice Managers and Regional Managers in finding exceptional talent. As a TAS, I'm continuously trying to find new ways to engage with candidates despite Quebec's incredibly challenging labour market. Another element of my role is ensuring that our Managers have the best tools and guidance possible to recruit in their local markets.

What motivates you in your role?

Our region is constantly evolving. I feel proud knowing I get to champion dentalcorp vision to aspiring and seasoned dentists. Hearing how they benefit immensely from becoming a part of the dentalcorp network is rewarding.

What advice do you have for new team members joining dentalcorp's Support Centre?

Our Practice team members are counting on us to provide excellent care to Patients. Taking an extra two minutes of your day to ask them how they are doing and how you can help find solutions goes a long way.

How do you like to spend your spare time?

There are four key things in my life: family, friends, food, and wine. The best memories of my life have been spending time with loved ones around a table, sharing meals, and a great bottle of wine. I enjoy trying new recipes, building charcuterie boards, and brainstorming crazy themes for parties. My Beagle is my sous-chef, ready to catch all falling crumbs!

How has dentalcorp supported your professional development?

I'm genuinely grateful for the transparency and inclusivity of my leadership team. I've been able to participate in big-picture conversations and have the opportunity to contribute to strategic discussions surrounding our region's needs. Understanding the value of my role and how it aligns with the organization’s goals enriches my day-to-day and inspires a sense of overall purpose. It has enabled some great wins for the organization so far, and I can't wait to see what we accomplish in 2023.

What's one of the most impactful life lessons you have learned, and how has it influenced your professional career?

My grandfather, an Italian immigrant and WWII Veteran was a maintenance worker at Sunlife in Montreal. He showed up to work daily wearing a three-piece suit, radiating pride and class. A family anecdote that sticks with me is that it doesn't matter whose name is on the door —everyone has a critical role in running a business. The key to success is treating it like it's your own.
